Hammans Electric, an affiliate of Swift Air Mechanical, is seeking an experienced Commercial/Industrial Electrical Service Technician to join our growing team!
Low Voltage Electrician
The low voltage electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing low voltage systems such as data, security, fire alarm, and communication systems. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain low voltage systems (typically under 50 volts).
Work with systems including data/voice cabling, CCTV, access control, fire alarm, audio/visual, and networking.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Run, terminate, label, and test low voltage cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, fiber, coax, etc.).
Ensure all work complies with local codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Diagnose system issues and perform repairs or upgrades.
Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and customers.
Maintain tools, equipment, and accurate job documentation.
Follow all Company and customer safety rules and regulations. Report any safety concerns and/or accidents to a safety representative or manager immediately.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Proven experience as a Low Voltage Electrician
Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems and components
Ability to read technical diagrams and wiring plans
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and safety awareness
Familiarity with hand tools, testing equipment, and installation practices
The physical ability to climb stairs, ladders, stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, crouch, crawl, squat, kneel, grasp, and manipulate hand and power tools
The ability to work at heights and tight spaces
OSHA safety training or the ability to complete required training
Possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
Preferred Qualifications
Low Voltage or electrical certification/license (state or local if applicable)
Experience with fire alarm, access control, or structured cabling systems
