Scope of Work:
The Maintenance Electrician performs skilled electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility electrical systems in support of mission-critical operations at USAG Miami. Duties include demand maintenance, preventive maintenance, and emergency response to ensure safe, reliable, and code-compliant electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including lighting, panels, power distribution, motors, controls, and associated wiring.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and services on electrical systems and equipment.
- Respond to emergency, urgent, and routine service calls in accordance with established timelines.
- Diagnose electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment and implement corrective actions safely.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and applicable federal, state, and local codes.
- Accurately document work performed, labor hours, and materials used in required maintenance systems.
- Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to minimize disruption to mission operations.
- Comply with all installation security, safety, environmental, and PPE requirements.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum three (3) years of journey-level experience performing maintenance electrician work on industrial, commercial, or institutional facilities, or completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent vocational/technical training program. Each year of accredited college education in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
- Valid State Journeyman Electrician license and demonstrated knowledge of national and local electrical codes.
- Demonstrated experience performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility electrical systems (maintenance-focused; not construction-only).
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70/70E, lockout/tagout, and electrical safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation, proficient in the use of standard electrical test equipment.
- Ability to work in occupied, mission-critical facilities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (interim clearance required prior to start).
- Ability to obtain and maintain installation access credentials and background clearance, as required for DoD facilities.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and acceptable driving record, in accordance with company policy.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain – side hills and slopes.
- Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
